And the doctor says...
And the doctor says.... Jaeger is not a vicious shih tzu killing puppy that should be put down. Let me clarify. The dog trainer said that, not the doctor, and I am kidding about putting any dog down.
My point is that Jaeger's behavior has really concerned me. So we hired a trainer to come to our home to observe Jaeger and Izzy. Yes, I realize that to many people, such a measure seems a little extreme. In any event, she said he's a good puppy and that the interaction is perfectly normal.
She did review the settle command with us. Because Jaeger is bigger, we are supposed to pick up his front paws with us behind him and his back to us and tell him, "settle." Of course, everything was fine while the trainer was there.
But after the trainer left, as well as my husband, Jaeger started growling and snapping at me when I tried to "settle" him. Just as I was starting to feel better about the situation...
Sigh... I just keep telling myself that the trainer said he's a normal, good puppy. Please let that be true... I can't wait until the day I look back and feel embarassed that I ever a concern about little Jaegey...
