So, we've signed up the kids for intermediate obedience class. They will actually be in the same class this time. Izzy took her puppy class spring of 2008 and Jaeger took his puppy class in fall of 2009. Of course, training is something you need to do every day, but, well... we haven't been so good about it. Jaeger usually comes when he is called by name, sits, and shakes. Izzy will come to "come" (which we have been instructed to use only sparingly for emergency situations), but not to her name (she doesn't like to be told what to do) and will sit and shake - but only if we have a treat in one hand. In other words, we haven't exactly mastered all the basics, such as down, stay, or leave it. I hope we aren't the most poorly trained family in the class.
Luckily, we have a couple of weeks before class starts, maybe I can work with them until then? But if past experience says anything, it won't happen...
Did I mention we want to do agility training next?
