It seemed like Izzy and Jaeger had settled a little bit in their rough play. However, they recently resumed their regular rough play.
The other night it got a little rough so I grabbed Izzy to sit on my lap. When I went to talk to her (face to face, of course), I was horrified to see her face covered in blood. I screamed bloody murder.
We searched and couldn't find a laceration that would cause that blood. We also looked to see if Jaeger had perhaps lost or had a tooth pulled out during their play. Nothing.
Finally, I noticed the blood seemed to come from her nose.
I called the hospital and they said if she stops bleeding and doesn't show symptoms of stress, we didn't need to bring since we had an appointment the next day with the vet.
So we got her cleaned up and all seemed fine.
The next day when we were getting Jaeger ready to go to the vet, Izzy's nose started to bleed again. We were so worried. We went to the vet, and told them to substitute Izzy in for Jaeger's rabies shot appointment.
Dr. C was extremely worried. She asked if Izzy had been exposed to rat poison. We didn't think so; but didn't know if someone had it in their yard. I started to worry; what if the dog walker had exposed the puppies to rat poison unknowingly?
Dr. C finally found a laceration deep in Izzy's nostril. "I don't know how Jaeger's tooth could have gotten up so high!" She exclaimed. She still wanted to run some tests. We nervously waited. Luckily, they came back negative. We left with instructions to keep her and Jaeger separated so that Izzy's nose can heal. Easier said than done! Within a half hour at home, Izzy had a third nose bleed. Luckily, since then, all has been okay.
Poor Izzy!
