They passed!
To our great surprise, Izzy and Jaeger passed their Canine Good Citizen tests on the first try! Needless to say, I was thrilled!
There were, however, some scary moments. First, Jaeger almost failed the grooming part. They let him try again, and he passed that part of the test... barely. My husband had to hand his paw to the tester, but it got Jaeger through that part.
Izzy had to repeat the meet and greet part - where a stranger approaches the parent and says hello. The dog is supposed to sit or stay quietly by the parent's side. Izzy, however, was excited to say hi to the greeter. I mean, who wouldn't want Izzy to say hi? And, she shouldn't be penalized for being so friendly, right? Luckily, she did okay when they let her repeat that part of the test.
To clarify, it is permissible to repeat one part of the test without repeating the entire test if the dog otherwise passed the other parts and just had a small problem with one part of the test.
I have to admit, I was so surprised Izzy performed without the lure of treats. Admittedly, I did have treats in my pocket, but I could not give them to her. But, and some people may think I am being a bit looney, I think she knew this was important to mommy and that we were both being watched. She wanted to please - me and the tester. And she did!
To celebrate, we stopped at the dog bakery, got some treats, a couple new toys and a new outfit for Izzy (pictured).
A couple of weeks have passed, but I am still one very proud mommy! Hard not to be with these two precious babies!
