A few weeks ago, my husband and I packed the kids in the car and headed to Wisconsin to try out lure coursing. Lure coursing is a sporting event for dogs. The dogs chase a lure (e.g., some sort of fake animal or fur) that runs on a zip line. The objective is for the dog to stay with the lure (no short cuts) at the highest speed possible. In the past, lure coursing has been limited to sighthound breeds but it is starting to open up to other breeds. Regardless, this event was open to everyone and was just a fun charity event (not a competition).
Izzy and Jaeger seemed super excited and watched other dogs on the lure course intently.
When it was Jaeger's turn, he was off! And he was awesome!
Izzy, on the other hand, ran away from the lure in pure fear! We had hoped she would show all those parents of big dogs that she was no typical fluffy dog... Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Here's Izzy running - not after the lure - but to mommy!
Funny thing is that Izzy loves to chase other dogs so we thought she would love lure coursing, maybe even more than Jaeger.
Oh well, we all had fun anyway! Nothing better than a family fun day that involves our entire family of four!
