I think it goes without saying that Izzy and Jaeger are among the best dogs in the world. Sure Jaeger barks at suspicious things (e.g., a leaf that wasn't on the sidewalk earlier) and then Izzy barks like crazy to reprimand Jaeger, and they don't always do what they are told, but they are very friendly dogs.
Frankfurt is pretty dog friendly (as is the rest of Europe, I understand). The dogs can easily go to the finest restaurants, even inside the restaurants. But while businesses may be dog friendly, the people are surprisingly not so dog friendly.
For example, while walking the dogs, pedestrians will go out of their way to avoid the dogs. The chance of someone coming up to them to say hi and give them some attention is slim to none, which is far different from what the puppies are used to in Chicago.
Even people walking other dogs frequently avoid other dogs. I have noticed that there are more un-neutered dogs here, so maybe intact dogs are more likely to have conflict with other dogs so their owners avoid them. The same may be true for female dogs as one owner of a female dog seemed very upset that Jaeger was giving her dog attention (even though Jaeger is neutered). I don't know. It's just kind of sad as Izzy and Jaeger love and expect attention from other people and dogs.
Anyway, I do look forward to the dogs getting back to Chicago for some love and attention. If only we could bring them to more restaurants there!
