My mom surprised me with a short trip to Frankfurt for my first Mother's Day and my birthday. We had a lovely brunch at the Frankfurt Opera House for Mother's Day. The food was good and the setting amazing!
The Opera House was originally inaugurated in 1880 but was destroyed in World War II. Luckily, it was re-constructed and re-opened in 1981.
My mom was sick the next day so that was a bummer, but it was still good to have her here. The next day (and her last full day here) was my birthday! My mom still wasn't feeling that great, but we went to the park and gave the boys their first ride in the swings. Will seemed to enjoy the swing. It was hard to tell with Jack - he was more focused on teething on the swing than riding on the swing.
We also got to stroll around my neighborhood. Now my mom can have a better idea where I am when I call her while running errands.
We had hoped to have an awesome birthday dinner, but my husband's job had other plans so that didn't happen. Thank goodness my mom was here. Otherwise, my birthday would have been a total bust since my husband didn't get home until nearly midnight.
While health and work issues arose, I can't complain. I got to have my mom here with me and the boys. If only she could always be with me :) I have so much for which to be thankful. So much so that when I woke up on my birthday, I wondered what I would wish for when I blew out the candles because all my wishes had already come true.
